A big part of our 50-year history has been building a community for suicide loss survivors to connect and find healing together. Loss survivors like Sue attend our 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention every year to honor and remember their loved ones. Get involved in whatever way is meaningful to you this year on September 28. Hey LinkedIn connections! I’m excited to share that I will be running the 2024 NYC Marathon on Team Samaritans. Since 1974, Samaritans, Inc. has worked to prevent suicide and support those affected by it. Samaritans nurtures mental health through education, crisis services, and compassionate grief support following a loss to suicide. I have been volunteering on the Samaritans Helpline since 2017. Over the years, I have connected with hundreds of different people from all walks of life. Whether someone is actively thinking of taking their own life or someone just needs a person to talk to, there is such great power in connecting with another person. Samaritans has had such an impact on my life, and I am incredibly excited to give back to them through this fundraising effort. If you have the means, please consider donating – truly anything helps. We are not alone. Charlie, a befriender on the Hey Sam textline, created this beautiful artwork representing their experience providing nonjudgmental support and compassion to fellow young adults. During that time, she has shared her expertise in clinical services and healthcare business to support Samaritans in the launch of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and Hey Sam, a mental health support textline for people up to age 24. https://lnkd.in/etHcT6-3

We are deeply grateful to the Massachusetts Legislature for their continued support of the lifesaving work of Samaritans. Thanks to$1.8M funding in the FY25 state budget, Samaritans will be able to reach even more individuals in need throughout the Commonwealth. This support helps us to sustain and grow our 24/7 Helpline, suicide grief support services, community education, and Hey Sam programs. We thank every legislator, staffer, and supporter for making this critical investment in mental health and suicide prevention.
