WorkWell NYC Communications Intern

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between the government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

Program Overview

WorkWell NYC is an innovative workplace wellness team servicing over 350,000 City of New York employees. WorkWell NYC supports agencies to develop workplace-based programming and innovative, sustainable workplace wellness infrastructure. WorkWell NYC offers Citywide programming in person and digitally — live and on-demand — in five areas: prevention and chronic conditions, physical fitness, mental well-being, nutrition, and health equity.

Position Overview

WorkWell NYC is seeking a Communications Intern to help increase WorkWell NYC’s brand recognition and engagement by developing and implementing digital content distribution that reflects programmatic initiatives. The Communications Intern will work closely with WorkWell NYC program leadership and staff to coordinate the dissemination of cross-channel content, including print and digital collateral that reflects the diversity of the City’s workforce. The Communications Intern will be expected to have strong writing, copy editing, and administrative experience and can drive multiple projects accurately and skillfully. Candidates who are creative, innovative, and flexible with shifting priorities in a team-based decision-making setting will excel in the position. The Communications Intern will also contribute to the WorkWell NYC strategy and programmatic themes. This position will be filled by a temp agency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of communications engagement campaigns for WorkWell NYC
  • Review and update older program content and resources in collaboration with program leads.
  • Coordinate organization and formatting of on-demand content across multiple video streaming platforms
  • Create and manage updates for the FY25 workshop guide.
  • Coordinate needs assessment and dissemination plan for union contacts
  • Clean agency email data for large-scale mailing lists
  • Support the production and logistics of WorkWell NYC events.
  • Administrative and/or content development support when needed.
  • Coordinate and assist in the creation of website and social media content (e.g., Instagram Reelz)
  • Schedule employee interviews to capture success stories for the Work Well social media campaign.
  • Write blogs on various health and wellness topics for WWNYC staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The Communications Coordinator will:

  • Possess exemplary writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Possess advanced computer and design skills, including Microsoft Office suite and other layout and design software systems (i.e., Canva, etc.)
  • Possess strong film and video editing skills.
  • Display a capacity for critical, independent, and creative thinking.
  • Possess strong skills in project and time management, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Can work under urgent deadlines and high priority tasks.
  • Participate in external agency/site-based health forums (i.e., health fairs, educational programs) to promote WorkWell NYC worksite programs.

  • $18.00 - 20.00/Per hour

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

You must live in New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) in order to be considered for a position at FPHNYC.
