What does it mean to be a Compliance Specialist at GLS?

The Compliance Specialist II is responsible for managing all aspects of the Company’s compliance programs, generating new Compliance Automated Monitoring, performing root-cause analysis of monitoring results, and managing remediation causing results. This position is responsible for creating, managing, and driving enterprise-wide Policy and Procedure initiatives, and engaging in Compliance Consulting.

How will you drive value within the organization as a Compliance Specialist?


  • Manage the process of Compliance Automated Monitoring development by identifying risk points that require new monitoring, working cross-functionally to build that monitory, validating the effectiveness thereof, and documenting the process to be followed by end users
  • Oversee the documentation of enterprise-wide preventative and detective controls through the Enterprise Applicability Matrix. Work with business units to establish preventative and detective controls if an area of weakness is identified via the Enterprise Applicability Matrix
  • Establish Enterprise-wide policy management system and manage the system to ensure operational policies and procedures are reviewed within parameters of the program
  • Works with the Director of Compliance to utilize audit findings to determine areas of opportunity for extended Compliance review and engage in specific, scoped projects regarding the same
  • Provides support to the Director of Compliance and acts as an escalated point of review for Compliance monitoring results, analyzing the cause of the results with an emphasis on identifying systemic problems
  • Provides subject matter expertise and initial point of escalation for the Compliance Specialist I
  • Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management




What should you already know to be successful as a Compliance Specialist?


  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of Four (4) years’ experience in the financial industry preferred
  • Applicable Compliance Certification preferred
  • Unimpeachable ethics and integrity, as well as independent judgment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including regulators, internal management, and internal stakeholders
  • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Individual contributor that can also be a team player that can adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required




Employment Requirements:


  • Must be able to work at a desk/in a seated position up to 80% of the workday
  • Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Must be able to talk and hear to exchange accurate information
  • Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
  • This position is full-time
  • The position does not require travel
