Our client in San Diego is seeking a Senior EEE Parts Component Engineer to provide technical leadership in the parts selection process, parts management, creation, and quality control for innovative space projects.
Responsibilities:
Support cutting-edge space projects through all stages, from proposal writing and design to production support.
Develop component specifications, select appropriate parts, and manage obsolescence in collaboration with design engineers, supply chain professionals, and quality and reliability engineers.
Collaborate with various engineering teams (Project, Design, Manufacturing, etc.) to ensure designs meet quality and requirement standards.
Advocate for parts standardization by promoting the reuse of components from the database where suitable, and work with component manufacturers and distributors to understand their product roadmaps.
Oversee the ECAD library, including the maintenance and introduction of new parts.
Analyze Product Change Notices (PCNs) and Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts to assess their impact on components in use, and inform relevant teams of any concerns.
Efficiently manage data and part number systems.
Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
Proficiency in tools and strategies for managing component obsolescence.
Skilled in end-of-life management, including handling commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and counterfeit components.
Familiarity with the qualification and screening protocols for electronic, electrical, and electromechanical (EEE) parts.
Knowledge of JEDEC, EIA, IPC standards, and relevant military, NASA (EEE-INST-002), and ESA standards.
Understanding of Quality Assurance and practices related to the Electronic Component Management Plan (ECMP).
Understanding of space design requirements, processes, and their practical applications.
Experience with PCB CAD designs catering to various assurance levels and vendor capabilities.
Competence in high-density interconnect technologies such as micro vias, fuzz/micro buttons, BGA packaging, and high-frequency electronics including RF microwave, MMIC, and high-speed digital designs.
