Construction Project Superintendent - Commercial Construction

Job Description

The Project Superintendent is responsible for supervising, scheduling and coordinating all construction field activities. The Project Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed and adherence to budget of the project. The Project Superintendent has supervisory responsibility for Field Engineers, Assistant Superintendents, Interns and trade labor in his/her area of responsibility.

Reports to: General Superintendent, Project Manager or Project Executive

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Overseeing work among assigned trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Managing the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Source Building Group standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Supervising and developing Field Engineers and/or interns, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
  • Creating schedules and determining sequencing of work. Developing and implementing recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
  • Communicating with owners and architects/engineers in connection with field issues. Investigating and resolving such issues.
  • Participating in the subcontractor and Source Building Group billing process as it relates to work in place and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
  • Participate in preconstruction activities such as Bidding and Estimating, Constructability Reviews and Promoting project opportunities to subcontractors.
  • Thorough understanding of JHA/JRA forms pertaining to “Safety Management” on-site with all subcontractors.
  • Daily onsite responsibilities include assisting the TAMUS representative in the verification of materials and installation of work for the Exterior Envelope phase of the project.
  • Complete and document first work inspections for exterior wall activities.
  • Complete and document first delivery inspections on all materials delivered to the project site related to exterior wall.
  • Document daily exterior wall inspection and complete checklist in Procore and ACC Build.
  • Lead Pre-Installation meetings with TCS, subcontractors, consultants, and Owner’s reps related to exterior wall.
  • Accompany Owners third party exterior wall inspector on all site visits. Document and distribute any deficiencies or open items.
  • Lead and coordinate all exterior wall testing and inspection activities. Coordinate with ODR for all FPC and third-party inspections.
  • Work with superintendents and engineers to complete building mockup and through any field issues related to mockup.
  • Assist Exterior wall Super in day-to-day coordination and discussions with exterior wall trade partners. Participate in all Exterior wall coordination and pull plan meetings.
  • Track daily inspections and production on visuals on wall in TCS trailer for reference in meetings and other discussions.
  • Participate in subcontractor coordination meetings and daily huddles for all exterior wall QC items.

Qualifications

  • Qualified individual should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with exterior wall construction. Be able to read, interpret, and ensure the work in place is compliant with contract documents.
  • Qualified individual should be familiar with exterior wall water testing and components.
  • Qualified individual will be required to observe work from scaffolding system and or aerial lift.
  • Knowledge of building construction means and methods, scheduling, general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite software as well as a level of Scheduling Software, P6 or Microsoft Projects
  • Ability to thoroughly read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certified

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight.

$100K - $120K Salary plus Bonus and Benefits.
