Pay Range: $117,948 – $124,155

JOB SUMMARY: Lead the accounting operations of the Museum in the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the Museum's reported financial results. Support mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate Museum financial planning and budget management functions
  • Monitor, analyze, and publish monthly operating results against budget and forecast.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal revenue and tax reporting requirements.
  • Establish, document, and implement necessary accounting departmental controls, goals, objectives, policies, operating, and desk procedures.
  • Serve as primary liaison for annual independent audit and tax return preparation.
  • Ensure that payables are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
  • Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed and reviewed
  • Manage outsourced activities and staff
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: Outstanding management skills with the ability to lead, manage, mentor, motivate, and engage accounting team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Outstanding business continuity skills with the ability to work across departments and build effective business relationships and processes with all internal stakeholders. Outstanding organizational skills with an emphasis in attention to detail and follow-up. Outstanding listening, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, vendors, and trustees, and the ability to lead and facilitate group meetings. Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a group environment. Outstanding knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including generally accepted accounting principles. Outstanding knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Outstanding ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting, and rolling budgets. Outstanding technical skills and proficiency in MS Office and accounting software platforms. Outstanding knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT and Altru and Bill.com highly desired. Bachelor’s degree in accounting and ten years recent, relevant experience or any equivalent education and experience. Experience in a mid-level management finance or accounting position preferred. CPA preferred. Experience in non-profit accounting preferred.
