Position Overview

The Corporate General Counsel will play a critical role in providing strategic legal guidance and support to the executive team and various departments within the company. This position requires a hands-on approach, exceptional legal expertise, and the ability to navigate complex legal issues while balancing business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive legal strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify potential legal risks and proactively provide guidance to mitigate those risks.
  • Stay updated on industry-specific regulations and developments to ensure the company's continued compliance.
  • Provide expert legal counsel and guidance on matters related to intellectual property, licensing agreements, and technology transactions.
  • Develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Oversee the company's response to data breaches and incidents, including coordination with relevant stakeholders, communication with affected parties, and regulatory reporting, as necessary.
  • Manage and oversee all litigation matters involving the company, including working with external counsel and managing outside legal budgets.
  • Conduct internal investigations related to potential legal or regulatory violations and collaborate with relevant departments to resolve issues.
  • Provide legal guidance and support on employment-related matters, including drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, and procedures.
  • Advise on employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, termination, and compliance with labor and employment laws.
  • Support the Human Resources department in matters related to employment litigation and disputes.
  • Assist in the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the U.S.
  • 5 years of experience as a Corporate General Counsel or similar senior legal role, preferably within the technology industry.
  • Strong background in technology, data privacy, litigation, investigations, and employment matters.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and laws, including data protection and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), labor and employment laws, and intellectual property laws.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and overseeing complex litigation matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and strategic legal advice.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Start-up experience is a plus.

Salary: $200,000 - $250,000 yearly salary, plus bonus and equity.
