Position Overview:

Potencia is seeking a skilled and passionate curriculum writer to develop civic leadership training modules for Potencia tutors. These modules will be designed to empower adult immigrant learners with essential civic knowledge and skills that can be applied in their daily lives. The curriculum writer will work closely with the Potencia team, including educators, tutors, and community partners, to create a comprehensive and engaging curriculum.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design civic leadership 2-3 training modules tailored to the needs of adult immigrant learners.
  • Research and integrate best practices in civic education, adult learning principles, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Collaborate with the Potencia executive team and the Potencia civic education advisory committee to ensure that the curriculum aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Create instructional materials, including lesson plans, activities, assessments, and resources for tutors.
  • Revise and adapt content based on feedback from educators, tutors, and learners.
  • Ensure that the curriculum is accessible, inclusive, and culturally relevant.
  • Provide training and support to tutors on how to effectively deliver the curriculum.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Civic Studies, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in curriculum writing, particularly for adult learners and/or civic education.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and needs of immigrant communities is a plus.
  • Commitment to Potencia’s mission and values.
