We operate a small college-like campus in Fair Oaks that houses many of our students full-time.We are seeking a passionate and experienced Philanthropy Development/Philanthropy Coordinatorwho excels at cultivating relationships and is confident in making large donor asks. Status: Exempt, Full-time

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M with some evening and weekend events

  • $85,000 - $100,000 depending on experience
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance; a substantial portion paid by Meristem

About The Position:

The Development/Philanthropy Coordinator provides the highest level of services to prospective and current donors with support and communication to enhance Meristem’s mission. The position is responsible for growing Meristem’s scholarship resources, targeted fundraising campaigns, and an endowment for Meristem. The Development/Philanthropy Coordinator should be experienced and comfortable making large asks for major gifts. If you have a passion for cultivating relationships, this job is for you.

Core Responsibilities:

Donor Development

  • Identify, cultivate, and build relationships with donors and organizations
  • Actively manage a portfolio of prospective and current donors
  • Lead fundraising events Awaken the Possible, Feast of the Wreaths,Big Day of Giving, and Big Day of Service
  • Plan and execute Double the Possibilities Year-End Campaign
  • Facilitate fundraising events for donors outside of the Sacramento region working with parents, board members, and other stakeholders
  • Develop proposals for major gifts
  • Collaborate with grant specialist to manage and track fundraising efforts
  • Maintain donor base and update communications
  • Design and implement new philanthropic programs
  • Monitor and make recommendations for philanthropy trends and best practices
  • Initiate and plan campus visits with potential donors and current stakeholders

External Relations:

  • Develop and maintain an Alumni Program with former students and families
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to grow and maintain community connections and partnerships
  • Attend strategic events and conferences that support networking opportunities that further fundraising for Meristem’s mission
  • Contribute to an annual impact report for Meristem that includes student success stories
  • Build and maintain active relationships with aligned nonprofit partners
  • Leverage social media and other digital platforms to attract and engage donors
  • Provide data and success stories for marketing communications, newsletters, social media, etc

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with the development team to cultivate donors and leverage community partnerships
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to develop new programs, proposals, and campaign budgets
  • Update and report on restricted gifts
  • Provide data and information to build donation reports and maintain donor database
  • Contribute to event planning to maximize donor support and teamwork
  • Contribute to long-range organizational planning and program outcome measurement strategies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of non-profit fundraising experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite and the ability to learn donor management software
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial budgeting
  • Knowledge of various types of charitable giving
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Consistently takes initiative
  • Strong networking and closing skills
  • Contagious enthusiasm for Meristem’s mission
  • Tenacious, creative, and adaptive mindset
