We are searching for a dynamic candidate who will ensure that the theater & restaurant operate smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include managing and motivating crew members, managing daily operations, and assisting in the opening if this new location.
Position Summary
The manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the unit, including the selection, development, and performance of crew members. In addition, this position oversees the inventory and ordering of supplies, optimizes profits, and ensures that guests are satisfied with their experience.
This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Primary Functions
Oversee and manage all areas of the operation and make decisions on matters of importance. Must have the ability to contribute in all areas of the operation as they’re needed.
Leadership: Mentor crew members to ensure a high level of engagement and success.
Maintain Culture: Support, reinforce, and align decisions with the company’s unique culture.
Financial: Adhere to company culture, standards, and service levels to increase sales and maximize profitability. Cost controls to include: food, beverage, supply, utility and labor. Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Food Safety & Quality Control:
Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
Maintain professional theater image, including restaurant cleanliness, sanitation, proper uniform and appearance standards.
Supervise plate presentation, portion control, and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
Guest Service: Work effectively with guests in a high volume setting and ensure excellent guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
Operations
Manage shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, & planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
Ensure a safe & secure working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the theater & restaurant industries, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
Personnel: Provide direction to crew members regarding operational and procedural issues. Develop crew members by providing ongoing feedback and establishing performance expectations. Assist in scheduling, and the training and development of crew members.
Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge of the Casual Dining industry as well as the necessary business acumen of running a complete business unit [Risk, Talent, Facilities, etc].
Knowledge and skills in analyzing profit & loss statements and overall financial performance of a unit.
Knowledge and skills in staffing & retention with proven record of results.
Knowledge of Labor Laws.
Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Google Drive, POS Systems and Hot Schedules, and able to adapt to new systems easily.
Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a diverse staff.
Requirements
Weekend availability required, with weekday shifts also.
High School Diploma or GED required, College Degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years as a Manager in the casual dining industry with a proven record of success required. (5+ years preferred)
Pleasant, polite manner, and a neat & clean appearance.
Ability to lead, motivate, and empower managers to a higher level of performance.
Ability to align staff with company’s culture by balancing seriousness and having fun.
Ability to manage basic tasks and fiscal operations for a single operation.
Ability to identify problems and implement proactive solutions.
Ability to recognize personal shortcoming, accept constructive criticism, and have a willingness to improve.
Ability to set goals, create plans, and convert plans into action.
Ability to measure performance, objectively & subjectively, as well as hold direct accountability to meeting desired performance expectations.
Completion of all required certifications, including but not limited to: Food Service Management.
Working Conditions
Hours may vary if manager must fill in for his/her crew members or if emergencies arise (typical work week averages 45-50 hours).
Shifts are typically 10 hours.
Ability to perform all functions at the unit level.
Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
Work with all types of equipment as well as operate business office equipment, projectors, kitchen and bar equipment.
