We are looking for a Director, Enterprise Communications that can embody this spirit while leading all internal and external facets of this work for the company. This person will lead the team who drives Employee Communications and Corporate Communications storytelling, positions the company internally for employees, protects the company's reputation and inspires our communities around the world.

The Director, Enterprise Communications will oversee the creation and drive compelling and strategic stories and campaigns to define and elevate the brand and our leadership. Work will focus on driving Communication strategies that position Converse as a forward-thinking company redefining how today's youth interacts with brands.

What You Will Work On

If this is you, you'll be working with a highly motivated team across Communications and other business functions, at both the Geography and Global level.

As the Director, Enterprise Communications, you will lead the function across the core facets of CORPORATE and EMPLOYEE Communications. You will establish and strengthen authentic connections with INTERNAL (employee) and EXTERNAL (business media, future employees) audiences to advance the Converse narrative through clear, consistent, breakthrough brand, purpose and product storytelling.

A typical week might include developing storytelling strategies to support business and brand priorities, producing employee events to communicate quarterly business results or inspire brand connection. It might include building and executing a backyard strategy to communicate Converse's unique business story to Boston-based business. Or it might include building and developing strategic relationships with key Nike business team members to drive integration across our NIKE, Inc.

As Director, Enterprise Communications, you will proactively engage with and drive storytelling around our diverse workforce to position Converse as the most inspiring company for employees. You will also act as media spokesperson for Converse as well as develop and execute media messaging, including brand, athlete, influencer and crisis communications.

Equally, you will participate in the development of strategies, messages, plans and communications tools to successfully enhance Converse's reputation in the areas of Community Impact, and Inclusivity.

Who You Will Work With

You will directly oversee the Enterprise Communications Team and report to the VP, Global Communications.

As part of the Global Communications org, you will engage and liaise with your Global Communications counterparts at the Global level and across Converse's other Geography teams (North America, Asia, Western Europe and Global Partners) to align on and drive annual and seasonal planning and execution.

As a member of the broader Nike, Inc. Communications team, you will work closely with the other Nike Communications counterparts across Employee and Corporate Communications to inform strategic planning and to drive integration across key NIKE, Inc. initiatives.

Finally, you will work as an integrated member of the Global Communications Leadership Team to both provide counsel and develop and implement strategic communications planning.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business or related field
  • A minimum 10 years relevant work experience
  • Previous experience working with consumer and brand focused companies is preferred, not required
  • A self-starter who instinctively and consistently creates personal and professional stretch goals and meets them
  • Works well with others with the ability to build trust with the team and work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing and executing simultaneous projects and activities. Proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Curiosity and ability to think creatively, flexibility

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strategic Employee Communications plans and engagement strategies that drive awareness and understanding of Converse's business and brand objectives
  • Build strategic Corporate Communications plans and executive engagement strategies that position Converse as a growth business serving Creators, particularly in Converse's backyard of Boston, MA
  • Lead all issues management and crisis communications response
  • Champion and drive creative, compelling channel-specific storytelling approaches that support the Converse narrative, internally (and externally, where relevant)
  • Work as an integrated member of the Global Communications team as well as other functional partners like HR, DEI, Marketing, Design & Product to develop, deliver and execute essential communications planning
  • Work with Geography Communication leads to develop and strengthen consistent storytelling, engagement, and leadership communications
  • Develop written materials, including messaging, communications strategies and FAQs, etc, to support related efforts
  • Drive integration of Converse Employee and Corporate Communication objectives across Nike, Inc. Employee Communication initiatives
  • Provide strategic counsel to brand and business leaders
