Role Overview: As the Marketplace Product Director, you will spearhead the development of our innovative marketplace which connects K-12 educators with opportunities to have an impact in classrooms around the country. Every match made in Swing Marketplace is facilitated by our product's acquisition funnels, recommendation engine, dynamic pricing engine, quality & reliability switchboard, and other drivers to drive better outcomes for teachers and school districts. Our Product team builds the experiences and underlying algorithms that enable thousands of educators and schools to connect and transact efficiently every day.

The Marketplace Product Director also manages 2 Product Managers (PMs) to start, with future growth expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the product roadmap to enhance the marketplace experience for educators and schools.
  • Drive execution from the front.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including pricing, operations, legal, and data science to deliver scalable, user-friendly solutions.
  • Drive marketplace efficiency by balancing trade-offs across user experience, financial metrics, regulatory risk, and platform scalability.
  • Set qualitative objectives and quantitative goals for cross-functional teams, fostering bold and creative thinking that translates into actionable and rapid execution.
  • Monitor and measure the performance of launched products, incorporating feedback and insights into continuous product improvement.
  • Communicate product opportunities, challenges, plans, benefits, and results effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with design and other teams to establish design standards supported by solid product rationale.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of product management experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a scaled marketplace business.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in mentoring and scaling high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with experience using analytics tools.
  • Proven experience in segmentation and audience targeting, with the ability to turn insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a self-starter attitude.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in KPI design and mobilizing teams to achieve them.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 5% of the year.
  • Experience partnering closely with design and cross-functional teams to set and maintain design standards.
  • Solid understanding of value drivers in business models similar to Swing Education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in the marketplace driven education technology sector or related industries.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities within K-12 education systems.
  • Proficiency in product management tools and methodologies.
