Location: Remote - USA Start Date: 10/01/2024 Type: Full-time Exempt Annual Salary Range: $190,000 - $240,000 The Director of Community Grants manages the implementation of the Community Grants strategy on behalf of Marguerite Casey Foundation (the “Foundation”). The position is responsible for maintaining the full life cycle of processes and systems for the Community Grants strategy, from the assessment of potential grant recipients through the offboarding of grant recipients and closing out grants. The Director will serve as the point of contact for community grant recipients during their grant term. They will connect with organizing leaders and base-building organizations across the country who are at the forefront of moving and wielding power in relationships with communities. Additionally, the Director serves as a key advisor to the VP of Grantmaking & External Affairs, CEO, and Leadership Team on local power-building organizations within the Community Grants portfolio. This full-time position is based remotely in the US. It reports to VP of Grantmaking & External Affairs and is exempt under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act. - To maintain the processes and systems for current grant recipients in onboarding, engagement, and offboarding in the Foundation’s grants management system.
- A dynamic environment, where you will work collaboratively across teams and independently
- Partnership with our Communications and External Affairs teams to support knowledge sharing from the Community Grants portfolio with internal and external audiences. You’ll highlight key lessons for the sector and opportunities to uplift the leadership and work of Community Grant recipients
- To maintain up-to-date grant recipient data in the grants management database and ensure timely and accurate submission and processing of grant-related documentation
- To intellectually engage with the issues, policies, and campaigns of current and potential grant recipients.
- The opportunity to act as an organizational liaison and internal expert on Community Grants when needed which includes taking meetings with potential partners and other stakeholders, and speaking on panels.
- To manage the Community Grant application process and collaborate closely with the Grants Management team to implement the application process
- To convene and manage a prospecting committee and an assessor group to assist in the grant application process and provide recommendations for prospective grant recipients to the VP of Grantmaking & External Affairs
- Opportunities for deepening your knowledge in grantmaking practices and power-building efforts happening around the country
- Have a Bachelor's degree or the equivalency.
- A Masters degree in public policy, community development, political science or related fields is a plus
- Have at least eight years working with a grassroots non-profit organization or in program management non-profit leadership/program management, and five years within the philanthropic sector.
- You’re coming in with solid experience working within 501c3 governing rules, grantmaking and grants management processes, and you understand the policies governing philanthropic practice
- Bring deep knowledge in the field of power-building and the historical inequalities and systemic challenges experienced by underserved communities
- Love implementing and following systems and processes and making sure things are done well and efficiently, whether for self-management or managing a program.
- Possess exceptional communication skills, particularly in writing and public speaking. You also have a track record of communicating hard decisions and trade-offs with a level of ownership, even when those decisions were made collaboratively.
- Demonstrate strong situational awareness and can interact astutely with a variety of power dynamics.
- Have decision-making abilities that include an analysis of power and naming the intentional trade-offs that will result in the decision.
- Act with integrity and can manage sensitive information confidentially
- Are comfortable with using a grants management database and understand widely used PC applications, including Google Workspace.
- Are committed to the Foundation’s mission and values of belonging & representation, mutual respect, and trust
- Remote Work - This position is open to candidates nationally and across time zones.
- Physical Demands of the Job - Constant computer work that may require repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands. Constant seeing and hearing. Frequent travel by auto, air, or train.
