It was standing room only today ISPCAN for ChildFund's Education Director Janella Nelson's presentation on the Education for Protection and Wellbeing (EPW) program, currently being implemented in Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Uganda, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Together with colleague @ElizabethWPerry from Georgia State School of Public Health, they presented on the development of EPW and the 2023 qualitative program evaluation findings from Sierra Leone. These findings suggest EPW programming has led to reduced corporeal punishment in school and home environments, better relationships between children, parents and teachers, and better emotional regulation among teachers and caregivers. #ISPCAN2024

We know that online sexual exploitation and abuse affects children everywhere, but our Community-Based Child Protection(CBCP) Mapping is a powerful tool that can give us more precise data around what exact risks young people face within their communities. Today at @ISPCAN, ChildFund International in Indonesia's Reny Haning and ChildFund's Khadiga Alsharif discussed how ChildFund recently piloted the integration of online risks into the CBCP mapping. The pilot study aimed to identify gaps, map risk factors, and propose strategies for a holistic child protection approach that includes digital safety. This presentation shared the methods used to address the complexities of child protection in the digital age, results of the mapping activities, and a community-led call to action for safeguarding children from evolving threats. #OSEAC #ISPCAN2024
