Director of Design Engineering

Overview:

Our client are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Director of Design Engineering to lead their eMobility engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in engineering leadership, particularly in the electric mobility sector, and will be responsible for guiding the design and development of cutting-edge electric vehicle technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

• Lead and manage the engineering department, setting strategic goals and overseeing project execution from ideation to completion.
• Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with company objectives and drive innovation in electric mobility solutions.
• Foster a collaborative environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Project Management:

• Oversee all engineering projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications, budget constraints, and timeline requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including R&D, product management, and manufacturing to ensure seamless project integration.
• Utilize best practices in engineering to provide technical guidance and support for all initiatives.

Technical Oversight:

• Direct the design and development of electric vehicle systems, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in electric mobility technologies.

Team Development:

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Provide technical leadership and training to team members, ensuring the continuous enhancement of skills and knowledge.
• Evaluate and manage the performance of engineering staff, setting clear goals and expectations.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on project status, technical issues, and engineering achievements to senior management and stakeholders.
• Negotiate and manage engineering contracts and agreements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or in a similar senior-level engineering management role, preferably within the eMobility or automotive industry.
• Strong technical background in electric vehicle systems, battery technology, and power electronics.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading large engineering teams.
• Proficient in project management, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
