Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Finance with extensive experience in financial markets to develop and execute financial strategies that align with Freedom Capital Markets’ goals and regulatory requirements. As a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will oversee all financial operations, provide strategic insights, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster the financial health and sustainability of our institution through innovative fiscal management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support the long-term goals of Freedom Capital Markets, focusing on growth, profitability, and sustainability.
  • Financial Stewardship and Reporting:
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, ensuring compliance with industry standards, including GAAP and SOX, and reporting to regulatory bodies such as the SEC and FINRA.
  • Risk Management:
  • Lead the risk management function, including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and the company’s risk appetite.
  • Stakeholder Management and Strategic Partnerships:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, investors, and partners, and represent Freedom Capital Markets in financial discussions and negotiations.
  • Data-Driven Insights and Reporting:
  • Utilize advanced financial analytics and data-driven insights to guide decision-making processes and to provide timely and accurate financial information to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Financial Operations and Sustainability:
  • Manage Freedom Capital Markets’ financial operations, including treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation, ensuring the institution’s financial health and stability.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure Freedom Capital Markets’ compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including those from the SEC, FINRA, NYSE and state regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all financial activities of Freedom Capital Markets, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital management, to drive profitability and growth.
  • Ensure the integration of financial controls and risk management into daily operations, decision-making processes, and product planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO, COO, and executive team to provide financial insights, enabling data-driven decisions and fostering sustainable business growth.
  • Achieve revenue, budget, and profitability targets, and develop tools and metrics to provide critical financial information to the leadership team and stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic guidance on capital financing, including managing relationships with banking regulators, investors, and financial partners.
  • Ensure strict compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements, with a particular focus on the unique regulatory environment of financial markets.
  • Collaborate with HR and the executive team to develop and implement a talent strategy aligned with Freedom Capital Markets’ financial goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a key liaison with shareholders, regulatory bodies, and potential investors, delivering financial presentations and reports that clearly communicate the company’s financial performance and strategic direction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial management, with a significant portion in the financial markets or banking industry.
  • Extensive experience in leading a finance team within a regulated financial environment, with a proven track record of driving financial growth and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling, with experience in navigating the complexities of financial market statements and regulatory reporting.
  • Deep knowledge of financial market regulations, risk management practices, and financial compliance, including experience with regulatory exams and audits.
  • Proficiency in modern finance and accounting tools and technologies, including those specific to financial markets, such as core banking systems and risk management software.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and execute financial strategies that align with Freedom Capital Markets’ business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and priority management skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, including regulators.
