We are seeking a Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness who will oversee the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. This person will report to the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing a comprehensive institutional research and administrative assessment program that will support the College's strategic planning priorities, evidence-based decision making, and overall institutional effectiveness. Primary duties of the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, who serves as the data steward for the College, include compilation, confirmation of accuracy, analysis, interpretation, and communication and/or submission of all data and assessment-related information required by external agencies or requested by internal stakeholders in order to inform planning and resource allocation decisions and/or support the College's assessment and effectiveness efforts.

- Create and execute the vision and strategic priorities for the College's Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
- Plan and coordinate the maintenance, analysis, and reporting of all statistical information and data useful to the College.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the College's planning, assessment, and effectiveness program.
- Prepare written reports and presentations for internal and external constituencies, which include federal, state, accrediting, and external grant and initiative agencies.
- Ensure all federal, state, and other external reporting requirements are submitted or responded to accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review and approve census files for state SURE reporting and federal IPEDS reporting, consulting with appropriate offices, as necessary, to collect data and verify data accuracy.
- Serve as a liaison from the College to various federal, state, and other external agencies for data reporting, research studies, surveys, etc.
- Collaborate with and provide data expertise/guidance to administrators, faculty, and staff who need to identify, collect, analyze, or interpret data in order to address institutional priorities.
- Analyze and interpret data to produce audience-appropriate reports, executive summaries, fact sheets, graphic presentations, visualizations, dashboards, etc.
- Develop and implement methods for communicating information to members of the College community.
- Co-lead efforts to create a culture of data literacy and assessment on campus.
- Approve the tools, sampling, and administration schedule associate with external and internal surveys, questionnaires, and other forms of information retrieval to support the assessment activities of the College.
- Supervise the daily operation of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
- Manage the operational budget of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
- Co-lead Data Governance efforts and activities at the College, which will include initiating and resolving systems and data quality issues related to required data sets and institutional databases used for mandated federal, state, and other external data reporting.
- Serve on various college-wide and external committees, task forces, project teams, advisory groups, affinity groups, etc., as assigned.
- Keep abreast of current data analysis, data ethics, external reporting, assessment, and other relevant and appropriate bets practices, platforms, tools, and software.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in a research-related field is required; however, candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Social or Educational Research, or a related discipline and have significant work experience in data analysis and reporting and/or institutional research, especially at an institution of higher education, may substitute education and experience for the Master's degree.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in information gathering, data processing/management and analysis, and reporting, preferably in higher education research is preferred.
- Experience with statistical and empirical analysis and related software (e.g. R, Python, SPSS, SAS)
- Proficiency in R for data analysis and reporting, as well as advanced skills in reading, writing, and coding in R to effectively manage and analyze complete data sets is required; must also be able to train and support Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness staff in using R.
- Functional knowledge and experience using business intelligence and data analytics platforms such as Informer 5 for building queries, extracting data, reporting, and dashboard creation from student information systems such as Colleague or Anthology and other institutional data structures and mainframe databases are required.
- Knowledge and experience with data governance, ensuring data integrity and compliance within business intelligence and data analytics platforms.
- Experience in SQL and database management (particularly SQL Server) including process automation, data warehousing, working with relational databases, data dictionaries and metadata, and version control.
- General knowledge of SQL database design, development, and maintenance.
- Functional knowledge and experience using statistical software packages and data visualization tools for data analysis, retrieval, and dissemination is required; experience with R and Tableau or PowerBI is required.
- Experience producing graphical reports, data visualizations, and interactive dashboards by using appropriate software and tools (e.g. R, PowerBI).
- Functional knowledge of developing and maintaining a robust culture of administrative assessment and/or institutional effectiveness is preferred.
- Ability to write concise, analytical, data-rich reports directed to specific readership.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational, detail-oriented, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work both independently and in diverse teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work to ensure all deadlines are met.
