Director of Manufacturing
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Manufacturing with an extensive custom manufacturing and assembly background to lead a team of hard-working manufacturing professionals who are dedicated to keeping our company strong and growing. The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for all areas of manufacturing, safety, quality, and assembly, assuring products and services are delivered on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
Established in 1975, American Food Equipment (AMFEC) has earned and maintained a reputation in the food industry of supplying high-quality custom equipment engineered to meet specific customer needs. Our diverse product line combined with flexible engineering expertise ensures that our customers receive the exact required machine for a specific application engineered to integrate within the customer’s facility and food processing lines. While machines contain standard components, each individual machine has a high degree of customization in the design and build of the equipment. Whether it is a single piece of equipment or a state-of-the-art turnkey system, AMFEC has the experience and technology to deliver equipment that will increase processing efficiency, productivity, and capacity, thus bringing superior value to its customers. In-house capabilities include, precision cnc machining, milling, water jet, fabrication, welding, blast, and assembly performed in a 125,000 s.f. manufacturing facility in Caldwell, Idaho.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of custom manufacturing and assembly operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company submittals, quality standards and scheduled delivery dates. Lead manufacturing management to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan
- Together with senior staff members, develop long and short-range planning policies, programs, and objectives.
- Establish manufacturing policies, processes and programs that enable the organization to maintain and improve its competitive position as well as profitability. Help identify opportunities to standardize products and processes
- Monitor and update the production schedule coordinating customer changes with project managers and engineering to ensure production to the latest submittal changes and any engineering rev changes
- Direct the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards. Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data.
- Assure that all personnel are well informed of decisions, policies, initiatives, and all matters that affect their performance, safety, and results.
- Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff. Takes correction action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
- Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, employee involvement, security, etc.).
- Initiate and coordinate implementation of major projects (plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.)
- Ensure manufacturing personnel are properly utilizing the ERP system and charging time to current jobs
- Manage sub-contractors’ performance and ensure proper documentation of all outgoing and incoming subcontractor activity.
- Travel – may require up to 10% travel.

Direct Reports Include: Manufacturing Supervisor, Materials/Logistics Management Manager, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineer.
Education and Experience:
- Prefer BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, but experience matters most
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a customer capital custom equipment environment. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer OR the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer
- Management Team Level of experience.
