Director of Project Development

Director/Associate Director of Development (Remote)

Join a fast-growing renewable energy firm with significant momentum in the solar and energy storage space. This is a rare opportunity to take on a leadership role with a company backed by a major investment firm while maintaining the flexibility and impact of a smaller organization. The team has experienced remarkable growth, with over 4 GW of contracted and operational projects, and they’re looking for someone who can step in and mentor a talented group of developers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead development projects in WECC and CAISO regions, overseeing them from greenfield through to Notice to Proceed (NTP).
• Provide mentorship and guidance to a team, including 2 direct reports, as well as collaborate with a broader group of developers, managers, and associate directors.
• Work closely with internal teams, including real estate, permitting, and engineering, ensuring the holistic development of projects without heavy specialization.
• Act as a subject-matter expert, providing leadership across all stages of project development while supporting the company’s broader goals of sustainable growth and excellence in solar+storage development.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with strategic goals.

What You Bring:

• Proven experience in renewable energy development, with expertise in the solar and/or energy storage sector.
• Comfort working with projects in the WECC and CAISO regions.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide less-experienced team members.
• Experience taking projects from early-stage development through NTP.
• A collaborative mindset, capable of working with multiple internal stakeholders, including permitting, real estate, and engineering.
