Shine Associates, LLC has been retained to search, identify, and recruit a Corporate Asset Manager (Asset Manager) on behalf of our client (‘Company’). The Company is headquartered in Bedford, MA and this position will have remote options available.

Our client is seeking an Asset Manager. The Asset Manager role will live in Treasury, ultimately reporting up to the CFO of the Company, and will be responsible for a global portfolio of approximately 50 properties, with a mix of manufacturing, lab space, and office space, located across the United States, Europe, and Asia. The portfolio is approximately 85% leased and 15% owned real estate, with a footprint that needs to be managed toward efficiency.
The Asset Manager will have the opportunity to build the real estate department, policies, and procedures, from the ground up while managing all third-party brokerage and project management relationships. The “right” candidate will be a motivated go-getter who can drive change and confidently keep senior management apprised of issues, challenges, and progress. The Asset Manager will oversee the existing portfolio and manage additional real estate that comes into play through mergers and acquisitions and will have the chance to create a “best in class” real estate operation.
Due to the responsibilities of the Asset Manager, approximately 20% of this role will require travel, and the Asset Manager can work remotely. The preferred base of operation is Boston MA (headquarters in Bedford, MA), but other options are available.
Primary Respponsibilites
- Real Estate Portfolio Management:
- Oversee the company's real estate portfolio, develop and execute a real estate strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives
- Manage the transactional process of real estate activities including land and building acquisitions, leasing, lease renewals, site locating and selection and disposition of surplus properties. Negotiate lease agreements, lease amendments, and contracts for new and existing locations
- Manage landlord and broker relationships
- Identify opportunities to acquire, lease, or divest properties to optimize the portfolio's performance
- Financial Management & Analysis:
- Develop and manage budgets for real estate operations, tracking expenses and optimizing cost-efficiency
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Provide financial analysis, capex forecast reporting to the executive team on real estate performance. Create business cases for new locations, leases renewals, site consolidation, existing site expansion or upgrades to present to leadership team.
- Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with company leadership to align real estate strategies with overall business goals
- Assess and plan for future real estate needs based on growth projections and changes in the business landscape
- Evaluate and recommend real estate investments and dispositions in line with the corporate strategy
- Bachelor's degree with a focus within real estate, finance, engineering or business preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in Asset Management, including lease negotiations and transactions, strategic planning, and exposure to all aspects of real property transactions in both office and manufacturing environment.
- Strong skills in data analysis, critical thinking, and project management
- Be proactive, creative, and collaborative
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Experience in manufacturing facilities, while not required, is preferred.
