Organization Background:

The Inner City Education Foundation, known as ICEF Public Schools, is a nonprofit charter school network serving communities in the South Los Angeles area for 25 years. ICEF Public Schools operates seven high-quality, tuition-free, public charter elementary, middle, and high schools serving over 2,000 students from TK-12th grade.

ICEF's mission is to educate and empower courageous leaders to pursue their full potential in college, career, and life by providing a community that honors each student's unique identity, fosters academic excellence, nurtures healthy minds, and inspires critical thinkers.

Position Description:

The Director of Student Services is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive support services provided to students to enhance their academic, social, and emotional well-being. This position entails strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs that address the diverse needs of the ICEF student body, ensuring equitable access to resources and support. The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, and external partners to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes college and career readiness, student success and wellness. This position will lead the implementation of ICEF’s K-12 College and Career programming, and will be a primary leader in ensuring implementation of student services programming across schools related to attendance, PBIS and discipline.

Reporting: This position reports to the Chief of Schools

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Cycle: 12 months

Salary: $90,000

K-12 College & Career Counseling Program: 60%

  • Collaborate with the Chief of Schools, principals and counselors to create a strategic plan for college and career counseling network wide, identify and manage yearly goals, priorities and metrics, and manage implementation.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Mental Wellness to refine the ICEF Embrace the Mind curriculum to incorporate college and career exploration content for grades K-12.
  • Ensure the ICEF Embrace the Mind curriculum is culturally relevant, responsive, and age-appropriate to meet the varied needs of K-12 students
  • Partner with the View Park High School Academic Counseling Team to ensure programming is implemented consistently in support of ensuring students are college and career ready upon graduation.

Student Services Programming Leadership 40%

  • Regularly review and assess data tied to student attendance, behavior and academic achievement to support early identification and intervention with at-promise students. (truancy, chronic absenteeism, tiered behavior interventions, etc.)
  • Collaborate on ICEF Social Work programming to ensure the ICEF Social Work team is effectively addressing student needs, promoting emotional and social well-being, and fostering a supportive school environment for students and families
  • Create processes for implementing and managing a multi-tiered behavior and attendance intervention systems across ICEF.
  • Participate and advise in serious discipline processes, including extended student suspensions and expulsions.
  • Provide professional development to ICEF leaders and teachers focused on positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS), trauma-informed and restorative discipline practices.
  • Lead ICEF attendance accountability processes at the ICEF Home Office level (Student Attendance and Review Team).
  • Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices for the provision of comprehensive student services.

Experience and Education

  • California Clear Pupil Personnel Services Credential or California Administrative Services Credential (or an equivalent out-of-state credential which is transferable to California).
  • An earned master’s degree in education, counseling, or mental health-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least four years of employment in a leadership role in a school setting with experience in academic/social emotional counseling, or other student services related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and management.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and understanding of the needs of students and families from various backgrounds.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities.
