The Director, Organizational Development assesses organizational needs and designs, implements, and evaluates professional development and continuous learning programs that support Dole’s strategic plan, values, and goals. Oversees and directs the organizational development programs and leads special projects. Provides consultation on change management, leadership and career development to facilitate organizational change and influence organizational culture. Develops and implements OD programs with a high level of independence and judgment.


This role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Westlake Village, CA office. Initially, the role will need to be in the office 3-4 times per week.

(Hybrid is defined as 2 to 3 times per week in the office but may require more time in the office for this role).


Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Vice President, Human Resources, leads Dole as a learning organization.
  • Manages Organizational Development program, including organizational change initiatives, employee development, retention programs, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
  • Aligns organizational development programming with departmental strategic plans.
  • Conducts comprehensive needs assessments and gap analyses. Collects and analyzes a variety of complex data and information.
  • Identifies opportunities for organizational change and drives culture transformation in developing a learning organization.
  • Drives employee engagement by developing innovative programming on multiple platforms including organizational analysis and change programming, onboarding initiatives, career development planning, management training, mentoring programs, etc.
  • Develops, plans, directs, and implements associated goals, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Assesses program effectiveness utilizing appropriate metrics.
  • Designs retention strategies to engage employees and provides needed professional development and employee recognition systems.
  • Designs and maintains succession planning programs in collaboration with leadership, including forecasting succession needs and creating leadership development programs in support of future needs.
  • Working with the VP, Human Resources, reviews and assesses organizational structure and reporting relationships and makes recommendations for adjustments in alignment with Dole’s strategic plan.
  • Partners with management and staff and other constituencies to create and coordinate a training model to provide the strongest development programs while efficiently utilizing Dole’s resources.
  • Develops and implements management training programs for all levels of management including management onboarding, supervision best practices, performance management, and leadership development.
  • In conjunction with the VP, Human Resources, partners with leadership to develop a culture of performance accountability throughout Dole.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation and utilization of innovative technologies (i.e. talent management system) to increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Develops, recommends, and administers policies, procedures, and processes in support of Organizational Development and Human Resources; implements and monitors compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Collaborates with the Assoc. Director, Human Resources, and other HR managers on employee lifecycle programs and initiatives.
  • Participates in/on and/or leads a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other pertinent information as appropriate
  • May assist departments with change management strategies.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible Organizational Development and/or Learning and Development experience, including 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Supervisory principles.
  • Human Resources principles and practices.
  • Advanced concepts, policies, and practices related to organizational and employee development.
  • Online educational delivery platforms and best practices with computer-based training and delivery.
  • Advanced principles and practices in training and development and employee engagement.
  • Program development and administration principles and practices.
  • Educational, cultural, political, governmental, and employee relations issues.
  • Learning management systems (LMS).
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes.
  • Computer technology used for communication, data gathering, and reporting.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • MBA highly desired.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.


Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 10-15% travel is required.

FOR JOBS BASED IN CALIFORNIA:

Hiring Pay Scale: $170,000 to $190,000

The pay rate offered will consider a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, accomplishments, and location. Pay scales are subject to review on a regular basis and will be updated as appropriate.
