AMPYR Energy USA (AMPYR) is seeking a Director, Project Development - West US to join our team in North America focusing on the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.


This position supports greenfield development and project acquisition opportunities within the project development organization for Solar PV and hybrid (PV + BESS) projects. This position is focused on development activities in the CAISO and ERCOT markets. Job responsibilities will include analytical and project management support across the development lifecycle of greenfield, co-development and acquired projects. This person will interact with internal team members and external project development partners on tracking and reporting project schedules, budgets, spend and other critical development matters. Additionally, this person will undertake research, analyses and support workstreams on land, grid, regulatory framework, permitting regime, local incentives, abatements, and support making necessary project filings. Successful applicants will have experience in project development and project management with an ability to research and present data. Responsibilities


Duties include but are not limited to the following:


  • Support project development efforts including greenfield efforts is selected markets by working with team members on land, interconnect studies and agreement obligations, contract administration, surveys and other due diligence efforts
  • Support GIS in prospecting analytics and project origination activities by being responsible for and researching and gathering critical data on markets and projects, energy infrastructure, land, grid, regulatory framework, permitting regime, local/state/ federal incentives and abatements, in order to efficiently screen and rank order project opportunities.
  • Create and review project reports, summary of deliverables, budgets, schedules, contracts, and other documents for active projects.
  • Interface with external project development partners to coordinate on project deliverables under development agreements, including timelines, spend, project documents, and data rooms.
  • Implement and maintain project development and management platform for reporting project and pipeline level spend, progress, and critical matters.
  • Act as project management liaison and interface internally with Finance and Accounts on pipeline spend projections, budgets and variance, various project payment obligations, and associated management reporting.
  • Maintain project pipeline and project summaries up to date in support of Offtake and Financing activities.
  • With the help of team members, create pipeline decision documents to justify incremental spend on each project, and support ongoing project development strategy.
  • Serve as repository for various project assumptions to ensure consistency and controlled rollout of updates.
  • Responsible for reviewing project acquisition data rooms to understand true project status, articulate investment commitment, identify key risks or incomplete development, and create a summary of project opportunity, in support of timely project opportunity appraisal. With support of senior management and other team members, create investment committee paper for seeking project approvals.
  • Research, originate and maintain list of potential co-development partners and undertake cold calling to support project origination, and creation of brand awareness.



Qualifications, Education & Experience


  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or major in energy related field or Energy Development education and background.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in renewable energy project development environment.
  • Hands on experience in the CAISO and ERCOT markets.
  • Have created, reviewed, and participated in management of contracts, schedules, budgets.

  • Excellent computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. and the ability to effectively work on spreadsheets, word processing, networking, and e-mail programs.
