Job Summary


The Senior Director/Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will provide key, hands-on business and financial leadership throughout the organization. This high visibility role will offer demonstrated experience and execution with establishing budgets and forecasts that are understood and supported by functional heads, financial analysis, modeling and long range financial planning. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional who can collaborate and partner across a fast-paced organization including the executive team, department owners and program stakeholders.


Job Responsibilities


  • Develop the annual budgeting process, ongoing quarterly/monthly forecasts and longer range strategic plans
  • Work closely with the accounting team to analyze monthly results; identify actual or expected deviations from the established budget; analyze causes and develop recommended course of action
  • Develop, manage and support key organizational and strategic financial models
  • Maintain and develop the monthly cash flow forecast, working closely with the accounting team to align on assumptions and methodologies
  • Assist in the development of analytical tools and processes to support and planning and analysis activities and improve results; work with the accounting team to ensure reported results align with operational and program reporting requirements
  • Partner and collaborate across multiple cross-functional departments, including executive leadership to provide insight into progress against established budgets and the financial support/guidance necessary to drive alignment on spending and sound decision making
  • Drive analytics and modeling for potential business development activities, including scenario planning around different transaction structures
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to understand supply chain and estimate and evaluate manufacturing costs
  • Work closely with lab and facilities operations/purchasing to evaluate materials and equipment costs and identify opportunities for cost savings
  • Prepare scenario and other analyses to influence internal business partners’ decisions around strategic initiatives and development programs
  • Drive organizational focus around accurate financial planning and establishment of ongoing and long-term planning
  • Partner with the accounting team on monthly, quarterly and annual closing and reporting processes
  • Drive continuous improvement within the finance organization to streamline processes and improve communication and flow of information to the business
  • Prepare presentation materials for Board of Director and Management Team meetings


Required Skills & Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance required; MBA preferred
  • Experience working in a biotechnology company with an understanding of preclinical and clinical development required; small molecule expertise desired
  • 5-8 years of relevant job experience with increasing responsibility.
  • NetSuite experience preferred, not required
  • Strong analytical skill and ability to work with large amounts of data with an ability to create ad hoc reports or analytics
  • Expertise with Excel and strong PowerPoint skills; experience with Hyperion, Adaptive, or another multidimensional database a plus
  • Budgeting and analysis activities
  • Experience with evaluating and estimating costs in a complex supply-chain
