About The Department

The Event Development and Production Department develops and produces NYRR events from concept all the way through execution in alignment with NYRR’s mission. The TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half and the RBC Brooklyn Half are just a few of the 40+ adult events and 30+ Rising New York Road Runners youth events produced by the team each year. The team leads core elements of the operations including physical site management, timing and scoring operations, volunteer management, hospitality and special events, safety and security, management of our warehouse and all race collateral, city and state agency relationship management, and permitting.

About The Position

Manage NYRR warehouse operations (overall budget, fleet management, safety and protocols, facility support and oversight, admin). Establish a responsive and cost-efficient warehouse aligned with the current and long-term requirements of the organization’s business strategy. This position will report to the Head of Warehouse Operations, with the core responsibility of managing NYRR Warehouse Operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage NYRR warehouse operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing safety procedures, and personnel policies.
  • Oversee warehouse facility operations
  • Partner with Director, Warehouse Event Logistics to assist with scheduling and assigning employees, ensuring payroll budgets are in-line with schedules.
  • Achieve financial objectives with oversight of annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; drive continuous improvement in the cost efficiency of the operations; initiate corrective action using budgeting best practices. Perform regular audits with finance team.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Support inventory control team by conducting physical counts; reconciling with inventory management system.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing improved design layouts that create efficiencies; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. Ensure warehouse best practices are achieved through regular inspections performed with the Director of Office Space Operations.
  • Manage vehicle fleet management, which includes registration of all company vehicles; ensure compliance with current DOT and FMCSA regulations and regular maintenance.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain strong relationship with suppliers and outside contractors.
  • Create an environment that fosters creativity, learning, development, and opportunity for all employees. Provide ongoing support and dedication to developing internal talent pool.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Management of projects as assigned by upper management and introduction of new initiatives.

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of warehouse supervisor/management experience required. Experience leading a large team in various roles and responsibilities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong operational background required.
  • Ability to manage budgets and provide detailed analysis and reports.
  • Willingness to travel throughout New York City when required.
  • Must work various weekends and extended hours as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NYS, FMCSA and DOT regulations a plus.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; ability to manage full-time and part-time staff.
  • Focused attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable presenting to organizational senior management.
  • Outdoor event experience a plus.
  • Mechanical knowledge of vehicles, forklift and small engines. Working knowledge of outdoor power equipment, a plus.
  • CDL License a plus.
  • Forklift and other heavy equipment license preferred, with practical experience.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft business applications; Excel; PowerPoint; Word; Inventory Asset Management Systems.
  • Visio and/or AutoCAD preferred.

Salary: $85,000/year

NYRR requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
