The ideal candidate for this role must be able to act as a strong change agent within the site and be able to influence managers and employees to take appropriate actions. Must be able to effectively communicate EHS risks and assist leaders in assessing and prioritizing these risks based on legal requirements and business objectives/needs. Must be able to work closely with management and legal counsel to address regulatory compliance and liability issues.
Experience:
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the environmental, health and safety discipline with a strong focus on safety required. At least 5 years of working in a manufacturing environment as a safety professional is required. Experience in aerospace preferred.
Skills:
Incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
Strong technical and regulatory expertise in environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements as well as knowledge of and/or implementation experience with applicable industry standards including but not limited to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, etc.
Ability for strong collaboration and proactive and creative problem-solving. Display solid interpersonal management skills with the ability to build trust with all levels of the organization. Ability to communicate and obtain buy-in for EHS vision, strategy, and local plan. Must be comfortable in challenging the status quo and developing effective implementation plans and timelines to achieve goals. Driven, self-directed, and goal-oriented.
Must have a solid work ethic and impeccable integrity. Ability to work independently with minimal direction or oversight work and handle multiple tasks with the ability to switch priorities as needed. Able to exercise excellent judgment and possess a keen attention to detail.
Ability to reinforce and improve the safety culture by working in collaboration with operational leaders and front-line employees. Must be successful in working in a team-oriented environment and be able to work effectively in a matrix organization.
Proficiency in the English language required
Education:
At a minimum must hold a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline: Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environment, Health and Safety, Chemistry, Biology, or appropriate science-related field.
Advanced certification, additional specialized safety education, and/or equivalent work experience are desired but not required.
These may include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) NEBOSH Certification, etc.
