Position Description
The successful candidate will participate in new product development projects, application and production engineering of existing products, and the processes that bring them to fruition. An Electrical Engineer works with Senior Electrical, Software and Mechanical Engineers, taking complete ownership of, and responsibility for well-defined tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing their work product for design review, and for contributing to design review of other’s work. Planning and process monitoring throughout the product life cycle are integral to the position’s responsibilities, as are specification, component selection, circuit and wiring design, manufacturing engineering, testing and QA/QC of product. This position is classified as an Engineer Level 3 (equivalent to GS-9).
Electrical system and circuit design, circuit protection, electrical, mechanical and thermal properties of materials, electrical wiring methods and devices, solid state devices applicable to power conversion, agency certification and code compliance are all aspects of LayerZero’s core competency in electrical engineering. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to this broad range of electrical engineering disciplines. Excellence in communication is paramount to success in this role
Requirements
System level and detail level electrical schematic creation
Component and material database usage and maintenance
Wiring and electronic component layout within products
Product manufacturing engineering; CAM and production machine programming
Assist with, and learn processes for, product agency approval, regulatory adherence and electrical safety code compliance
Change notice ownership and design change completion thereunder
Thorough design review participation and preparation of own work for review
Required Experience, Skills & Education
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering
Experience with electrical engineering CAD tools
Knowledge of programming languages and writing simple programs
Experience reading blueprints and construction drawings
Experience with LabView
Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
Preferred Skills
Engineer-in Training or Licensed Professional Engineer status is desirable
Experience with solid state electrical power conversion
Knowledge of digital and analog circuit design
Familiarity with programmable logic devices and microcontrollers
Working knowledge of computer networks and network components
US Citizenship or C1 Permanent Resident Alien status

WORK LOCATION:
LayerZero Power Systems, Inc., main plant in Aurora, OH
Occasional need to work at customer sites for short periods, for example during system integration and acceptance, or when solving customer specific problems
