Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Eligibility Technician is responsible for scheduling and conducting client appointments and assists walk-in clients. This position will assist with all general clerical and record keeping duties.
Duties And Responsibilities
Establish and maintain confidence and effective collaboration with the Emergency Services team and KCAO employees. Identify inefficiencies and provide process improvement recommendations to the Home & Energy Director.
Consistently act as an active member of the Emergency Services Team with a positive impact.
Process applications for a variety of programs within the Emergency Services program.
Schedule appointments and provide resource and referral information to clients.
File incoming and outgoing communication documents, applications and other related documentation for the Emergency Services Program.
Type communication documents, memos and other related materials for the Emergency Services Program.
Perform general clerical duties, such as answering the phone, maintaining files, completing reports, performing limited typing or related duties.
Assist and support the Program Coordinator as needed and directed in completion of projects or other support that may be necessary to successfully direct the emergency services function.
Participate in team or staff meetings and attend other meetings, trainings, or seminars as directed.
Other duties as required/requested by emergency services team and supervisor.
Follow safety protocol and standards.
Assist Manager and Director as required/requested.
Experience/Education Requirements
High school diploma (or equivalent)
At least one-year experience in an office setting including:
Answering phones
Scheduling appointments
Customer service including interactions with KCAO clients or similar groups
De-escalating high stress situations during customer interactions
Completing forms and applications
Filing
Other Requirements
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is required.
Travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences as required per the funding source(s).
Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours.
Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include:
Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI).
Reliable, insured transportation and valid California Driver License.
Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.
Health examination with tuberculin clearance.
Influenza immunization highly preferred.
Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.
