The Employee Relations Specialist fosters a positive work environment and maintains effective communication between employees and leadership. This position receives, investigates, and resolves employee relations concerns in partnership with key stakeholders. The Employee Relations Specialist also executes consistent HR initiatives in the areas of performance management, training, compliance, and employment practices by aligning across the organization.

Responsibilities
Receive, investigate, and make recommendation for resolution of employee relations concerns
Address complaints, conflicts, and policy violations
Evaluate evidence-based documentation of performance concerns and corrective actions
Research federal, state, and local employment regulations, communicating updates to organizational stakeholders
Compile and analyze relevant metrics; Provide summaries, recommendations, and input to stakeholders
Receive and resolve HR-related inquiries and collaborate extensively with stakeholders as needed to facilitate equitable resolution in accordance with department procedures and HR service level agreements
Partner with stakeholders to achieve an efficient resolution to routine inquiries
Escalate complex situations in a professional and discreet manner
Serve as a back-up for managing the HR Help Desk
Utilize cloud-based HRIS (and other software) to maintain accurate and comprehensive records for employees
Administer technical/system aspects for the performance management process
Provide division and departmental reporting
Facilitate employee engagement initiatives
Actively participate in safety, wellbeing, engagement, and recognition projects
Manage and coordinate employee feedback mechanisms and initiatives (e.g. surveys, facilitated listening sessions, employee suggestion programs and talent development activities)
Participate in the coordination, development, and/or delivery of training workshops and webinars
Create templates, reports, and presentations related to employee lifecycle events
Serve as the primary point of contact for off-boarding activities
Assist with the creation and continuous improvement of checklists, standard operating procedures, and guidebooks
Audit data and records periodically to ensure compliance and consistency across the organization
Collection and present information, prepare reports and documents in response to information requests from management, legal counsel, and government agencies
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
HS Diploma or GED (required) and six (6) years progressive HR experience as a generalist or specialist (required) – or –
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communication, or related field (highly preferred) and two years of experience in employee relations, HR generalist functions, and/or employee services (preferred)
Minimum of five (5) years of experience and intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Advanced Excel skills are required for this role. Knowledge base and experience should include pivot tables, conditional formatting, v-look ups, x-look ups, data validation, charts, advanced formulas
PHR / SHRM–CP certification (preferred)
Broad knowledge of employment law principles and practices (required); multi-state experience (preferred)
Experience in identifying, analyzing, and developing solutions, particularly related to employee services and employee relations
Experience in job analysis, creating job descriptions, skills rubrics, and performance matrices
Experience with the interactive process, identification and deployment of reasonable accommodations
Skills
Strong understanding of HR policies, best practices procedures, as well as employment laws and regulations
Proficiency in HRIS systems (Prefer any of the following: UKG, PayFactors, ER/retention focused systems)
Demonstrated precise, effective, error-free writing skills, and strong attention to detail
Organize, plan, prioritize and follow through on work using basic time management skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills and conflict resolution skills
