Entertainment Creative Lead Writer

To contribute to the creative team within the Entertainment Department through writing, directing, and producing of seasonal content.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Additional duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to change or add to the duties of this position at anytime.

  • Develops and writes improvisational and storytelling show content.
  • Writes and develops show descriptions, park announcements and show scripts as assigned.
  • Produces all Entertainment voiceovers and production soundtracks as needed
  • Produces individual product as assigned. Duties may include
    • Scripting of content
    • Assisting with the purchase of props for seasonal product
    • Partner with production team on lighting, sound, and scenic design for seasonal product
    • Partner with Costumer with the design and purchase of costumes for seasonal product
    • Provides overall creative input on all aspects of the entertainment product
    • Provide scripting for other park departments as needed
    • Participates in and contributes to the development and orchestration of annual entertainment programming.
    • Acts as a liaison between Entertainment and other departments, interfacing with Senior Management and Corporate Leadership to offer creative assistance as requested
    • Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of seasonal performers; including participating in hiring, properly training, motivating, and disciplining.
    • Acts as a liaison and support for departmental employees to management, ensuring their concerns are met, their working conditions are satisfactory, and the quality of their performance meets the goals and expectations of the department and Company.
    • Participates in and contributes to the development and implementation of community outreach and enrichment programming.
    • Works with Administrative Coordinator to ensure Entertainment auditions are publicized, organized, and properly staffed for all seasons. Finds new and exciting ways to increase audition participation.
    • Attends all department production meetings as needed.
    • Attends all Producer Walk-Throughs, Invitational Dress Rehearsals, and Department Trainings as assigned.
    • Manages day to day operations of performances and entertainment staff as assigned (600 Duty).
    • Manages product and associated budgets as assigned.
    • Assists with seasonal installations and strikes as assigned.
    • Conducts show/product/company research as assigned.
    • Provides administrative support as assigned.
    • Assists with sourcing and the acquisition of all necessary equipment and supplies required for daily operations, rehearsals, and strike as assigned.
    • Oversees and/or leads projects as assigned.
    • Directs individual product as assigned.
    • Follows all safety standards and regulations required for position.
    • All other duties as assigned.


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    These are carried out in accordance with applicable safety policies and laws. Responsibilities include:

    • Directly supervise employees
    • Training, coaching, planning, assigning, and directing work
    • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
    • Ensuring staff adherence to all safety procedures and proper grooming standards
    • Regularly audit performances; perform one-on-one evaluations as assigned

    • Must read, write, and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages a plus)

    • Must be able to perform under tight deadlines

    EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in theater, acting or theme park performances
    • Minimum of 1 year experience in creative writing
