Base pay range

$94,605.00/yr - $141,398.00/yr

I. Job Summary
Ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of closed landfills.
This hybrid position is for a candidate who lives in Atlanta, GA or Florida.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts, provides oversight, and ensures smooth operations at assigned sites including timely performance of routine operation, monitoring and maintenance, and construction activities.
- As necessary, supports technical efforts at State and Federal Superfund sites and legacy RCRA facilities.
- Minimizes operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
- Acts as a liaison, where necessary, in regulatory and community relationships.
- Actively monitors ongoing permitting issues using internal compliance management systems (e.g., Intelex) to ensure regulatory requirements are followed.
- Complies with and ensures adherence to Waste Management’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Meets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Possess or efficiently gain a solid working knowledge of all site-specific system operation and maintenance requirements, including landfill gas management systems and controls, leachate management systems and controls, water treatment systems and controls, landfill cover systems, surface water management systems and controls, and environmental monitoring networks, as well as other ancillary equipment and site maintenance requirements.
- Develop budgets and forecasts for assigned sites or other tasks; and manage those budgetary responsibilities.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property of the landfill through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees.
- Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
- Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Prepares or updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
III. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree (accredited) OR High School Diploma or GED (accredited).and 4 years of relevant experience required
Experience: 7 years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement) and 2 years in a managerial/supervisory role required
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) OSHA 1910.120 within 180 days required
First Aid / CPR / AED within 180- days required
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Health, safety, and environmental regulations knowledge
Project management (e.g., schedule, budget) and supervisory skills
Computer-based word processing, data management and information presentation skills
Ability to learn and utilize job-related technical software, such as “App” based technologies to facilitate digital inspections, reporting and data/analytics preferred
Basic knowledge or understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA and/or automation and control systems preferred

Combination: This job operates in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.

The expected salary range for this position is $94,605 - $141,398. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for bonus.
