To continue our growth and development, we are currently seeking a motivated Environmental Field Technician for our Canonsburg, PA office. This position will be dominated by field work tasks to assist with inspections and monitoring projects.
Job Description:
Primarily field work related to inspections and monitoring of a variety sites and resources for compliance related projects. Examples of inspections and monitoring include:
Water quality sampling of discharge points (NPDES Locations);
Stream flow monitoring for flow volumes, observations, water chemistry, etc.;
Environmental data collection for private water supplies including wells, springs, and ponds;
Documentation of conditions of structures and surface improvements (buildings, roads, driveways, etc.);
Erosion & Sediment (E&S) control inspections;
Routine communications with private property owners to coordinate access to properties and communicate our presence in the field;
Preparing detailed field documentation and records of any inspections, observations, monitoring and sampling efforts.
Successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Strong desire to work in rural outdoors settings;
Comfortable working independently in remote areas;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to multi-task;
Ability to organize and implement field work activities based on priority/need;
Ability to work in outdoor environments during all weather conditions;
Ability to walk long distances while carrying necessary field gear, including across adverse conditions (uneven ground, steep slopes, wooded and unmaintained environments);
Strong attention to detail with good judgment and problem-solving capabilities to address field circumstances encountered;
Working knowledge of basic computer and software packages (word, excel, pdf), smart phones navigation applications, etc.;
Use of GPS equipment and/or mapping technologies preferred;
Field experience related to groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling preferred;
Availability to work Monday through Friday with evening and weekend work required at times for project specific requirements;
Must possess a valid motor vehicle license and comply with the company background check and drug screening policies.
