We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an Environmental & Safety Manager responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of health and safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees at our 6 operational facilities located in Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Essential Job Functions For This Position

  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow all EHS and company policies, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately.
  • Coordinates the EHS program to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage and coordinate all work-related injury and incident accident investigation.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of EHS programs.
  • Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Responsible for assigning/reporting monthly safety training topics/materials and safety audits to Supervisors; coordinate and work with team on plant audits
  • Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
  • Provide leadership, consultation, and advice to all departments on issues related to safety at plant level.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education / Experience

High School Graduate required

At least one to three years of safety experience.

Preferred Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree Safety Management or related field preferred

Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred.

Preferred Skills (technical, Clerical, Language, Etc.)

Ability to use a computer

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES

Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead an effective and efficient meeting.

Teaching skills in order to function effectively in training employees

Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control under adverse conditions and can lead his/her personnel to a successful resolution.

Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understands and demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.

Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.

Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to travel as needed. Constant standing, walking, talking, hearing; occasional sitting; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision. Reasonable accommodations may be available.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must have capability and motivation to be a leader, a self-starter, able to make decisions, determine if process improvements are needed and work without supervision.

Other Information

Tools required for the job: Steel toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses.
