Role Description

The Field Safety Specialist will act as the liaison between the Airswift Contractor; Corporate Safety and Client Site Management, by managing the day-to-day aspects of Airswift Safety Management System Policies and Procedures.
The Field Safety Specialist will be responsible for client safety and supervisors with the implementation of client-facing safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Provide safety training programs to instruct employees in safe work practices and emergency procedures.
  • Establish a proactive safety environment and culture.
  • Develop plans, injury prevention programs, speciallytraining materials, and related actions to mitigate risks identified or related to incidents, regulatory events, or hazard advisories.
  • Correct safety deficiencies upon discovery and take appropriate actions to diminish risks.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspections to monitor compliance with safety programs.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
  • Carry out special studies of accidents and causes, maintaining safety-related records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct and act as an expert resource for incident and accident investigations resulting in innovative and practical solutions.
  • Deliver safety programs that support corporate business plans.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in land drilling, refinery or petrochemical setting required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Occupational Safety or related field work experience applicable to petroleum/chemical industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a health & safety position required.
  • Experience with risk management and safety programs preferred.
  • CSP professional certification is preferred but is not required.
  • Ability to write technical reports, make oral presentationsand conduct training sessions.
  • Technical acumen in Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Hot Work, Elevated Work, Process Safety, Vehicle Safety, and related areas.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage effective working relationships with refinery business units.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain, or currently possess, a valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • This position will be in a field and office setting.
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds, push & pull, reach overhead, operate hand tools, stoop & squat, wear breathing apparatus, enter confined spaces, and utilise all necessary personal protective equipment.
