We're looking for a self-driven hands-on Financial Controller who will oversee all aspects of the company's accounting function. Reporting directly to the COO, this individual will be responsible for building our accounting team and streamlining accounting processes, systems, and internal controls. This role will work closely with senior management to develop and understand strategic financial plans, support due diligence processes, and partner with business leaders for all things accounting as we scale. The ideal candidate has a background in cost and SAAS accounting, strong communication skills, a growth mindset, and thrives in a startup environment. What You'll Do:

• Own the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, cash, AP, AR, inventory, sales commissions, stock-based compensation, capitalized internal-use software, and other accounting activities
• Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the month-end and quarter-end close process, including preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Develop internal controls and maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Drive process improvements and build scalable accounting workflows to enable Merlyn Mind's growth and operation at scale
• Coordinate and drive the annual audit process, maintain quarterly tax filings, and act as the point of contact for external tax accountants
• Partner with the People Ops team to support payroll and benefits processing and headcount reporting
• Support the COO to develop budgets, forecasts, and other financial analysis for senior management, shareholders, and auditors
• Build, manage, and develop the accounting team
• Understand working capital inputs, outputs, and workflows and partner with business leaders to drive financial excellence into those processes
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in cost accounting and SaaS accounting operations experience, including SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606)
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP/FASB and understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Experience working with auditors and other outside accounting firms
• Experience working with a fast-growing tech startup
• Familiarity with Netsuite, Ramp, and Mosaic
• Experience building and leading a team

The US base salary range for this role is $200,000 - $240,000, not inclusive of equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by experience, leveling, skills, qualifications and location. The provided range on each job posting details the minimum and maximum across all applicable locations in the United States.
