Finance Director

Job Description

The Finance Director (FD) is a trusted partner to our President and leadership team, responsible for end-to-end business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the portfolio. They ensure key assumptions, dependencies, risks, and opportunities are understood, articulated, and managed to deliver optimum commercial results and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Budget And Forecast

Responsible for submission of timely, accurate and commercially focused budget and forecast for a portfolio of over 50 events and digital products

Challenge commercial teams on revenue assumptions, weighing key metrics such as market conditions, event rebook and sales pacing, etc.

Review and challenge cost budgets from a granular zero-base (i.e. building from scratch, not rolling forward prior year) ensuring demonstrable ROI on all planned costs

Work with management team to identify key commercial issues, identify solutions, and ensure commentary highlights these issues concisely

Strategic Support

Provide commercial and strategic insight to the business in setting product and portfolio strategy

Review and approve pricing strategies (rates, pricing tiers, discounts, etc,) for all products to ensure revenue optimization

Provide decision support around staffing changes, sales resource planning/commissioning, etc.

Other Responsibilities

Responsible for accurate monthly financial reporting, overseeing the month-end close process for the portfolio in conjunction with shared service accounting teams

Prepare financial plans in support of product launches and capital expenditures

Support VP of Sales in developing sales commission structure and plans

Prepare and challenge investment/business cases, including leading financial due diligence for potential M&A activity

Manage a team of eight Finance Business Partners and Financial Analysts; motivating the team to delver best in class support while working to tight deadlines
