Growing Clifton Park, NY and New York, NY financial consulting business Equitable Value (https://www.equitable.expert/) is searching for a full-time financial analyst to analyze and organize complex legal, financial, and tax documents, work in Excel and Word, in addition to various other finance and forensic accounting tasks. Financial analysts are important members of the team who assist in the valuation of privately held businesses.


This fully remote position is ideal for a financial professional who enjoys interesting and challenging work, has great attention to detail, and the ability to process and translate complex financial and legal information for clients, legal professionals, and courts. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and have some experience in accounting, finance, valuation, or related financial services.


Equitable Value works in litigations, such as divorce proceedings, for some of the largest and most complex personal estates and businesses around the world. In addition to business valuation services, the financial analyst will also work on related forensic accounting analyses (e.g., tracing hidden funds in divorce proceedings, preparing settlement schedules, etc.) in the context of a divorce.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of documents (scanning, organizing, annotating)
  • Accounting and finance calculations
  • Review of company general ledgers for discretionary expenses
  • Company financial analyses and comparison to industry ratios
  • Forensic accounting of business and personal records
  • Use of online valuation resources
  • Market and industry research
  • Report writing
  • Collaborate internally with experienced financial analysts and paralegal professionals on complex projects, to help ensure timely and accurate completion of valuations
  • Assist in trial preparation
  • Data entry and analysis of bank and brokerage account statements
  • Maintain meticulous notes and records for each case 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • 1-2 years experience in accounting and/or finance
  • Professional demeanor with clients via email and phone
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
