Position Summary

The FP&A position plays a crucial role in providing financial insights and support to drive strategic decision-making. This role involves budgeting, data analytics, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance reporting, ensuring the bank's financial health and alignment with its business objectives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the annual budgeting process, including preparation, consolidation, forecasting and review of budgets across departments.
  • Collaborate with department heads to gather inputs and ensure alignment with the bank’s strategic goals.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances, providing actionable insights and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Create and upgrade when appropriate existing financial models to support strategic initiatives and long-term planning.
  • Prepare regular forecasts and projections to anticipate financial outcomes and support decision-making.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the financial impact of various business decisions and market conditions.
  • Analyze financial performance by collecting, monitoring, and studying data; recommending actions.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including variance analysis, KPI tracking, and management dashboards.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to evaluate business performance.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and trends.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements across the organization.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions and provide financial input to support the bank’s growth and profitability.
  • Build financial tools and models to evaluate new business initiatives
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform strategic decisions.
  • Assist in mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects as required.
  • Work closely with finance, accounting, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial software and tools, such as Excel, SQL, and financial reporting systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of business reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to produce reports and dashboards in ways easy for a reader to understand.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment & independently both virtually and in the office (hybrid structure).


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) preferred.


This is a hybrid position located in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Current days in office are: Tues, Wed, Thurs and Mon and Fri remote. These days and schedule are subject to change.
