FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER (MEP) with PE
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer is primarily responsible to provide technical expertise with regards to plumbing, fire protection and wastewater treatment systems. The position will provide detailed technical support to construction project managers and field supervisors to meet customer specifications and project requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain client store design criteria documents for plumbing, fire protection and wastewater systems to reflect current design standards
- Ensure state / local code compliance of fire protection systems, plumbing vacuum / condensate systems, sanitary & grease waste drainage systems, domestic water systems, interior / exterior grease traps, and wastewater systems
- Provide engineering /design support with respect to LEED applications, valve engineering, site / utility engineering
- Perform engineering / plan review of plumbing, fire protection and wastewater treatment systems design across multiple business lines
- Provide engineering support to Construction Development Group with respect to overseeing / interfacing with external Engineering Consultants on assigned projects
- Collaborate with Construction Project Management for all work related to plumbing, fire protection and wastewater treatment systems; visiting sites as required for minor projects
- Provide technical assistance, analysis, cost estimating, and recommendations to Maintenance Managers and Supervisors on issues pertaining to repair or replacement of fire protection systems, plumbing vacuum / condensate systems, sanitary & grease waste drainage systems, domestic water systems, interior / exterior grease traps, and wastewater systems
- Act as an internal resource for client Real Estate, Regulatory Compliance and Utility Departments with regards to plumbing, fire protection and wastewater treatment systems
- Ability to travel up to 20%
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer in Plumbing or Fire Protection required
- Previous experience with the design and construction of plumbing and fire protection systems within supermarkets or food processing facilities
- Demonstrated experience with projects involving complex plumbing, fire protection and wastewater systems
- Demonstrated ability to obtain, comprehend and apply local and state code to projects in a multi-state area
- Ability to interact directly with the client customer and resolve issues
- Ability to use shared workflow technology (Microsoft Office, Egnyte and iCloud)
- Auto-Cad experience
