Job Requirements
Holds an Indiana pharmacist’s license
Remains in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy
Possesses problem-solving skills
Physically able to stand for prolonged periods of time
Capable of lifting up to 10 pounds without restriction
IV Therapy experience preferred
Job Duties
Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
Manages medication profiles by reviewing drug therapies; advising interventions.
Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling nurses on drug therapies.
Develops pharmacological and organizational knowledge by participating in in-services; Pharmacist meetings, and other meetings as necessary
Develops pharmacological and organizational knowledge of others by participating in the training of students, technicians, and other pharmacists.
Helps maintain customer facility compliance with state and federal drug laws as regulated by state boards of nursing, the drug enforcement administration, CMS guidelines, and the food and drug administration by recommending order clarifications in anticipation of nursing unit inspections
Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state boards of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work of technicians; studying existing and new legislation; advising management on needed actions.
Supports pharmacy staff by identifying educational topics and development of in-service material when appropriate.
Willingness to be trained in sterile compounding, monitoring and dosing of intravenously administered anti-infectives.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains pharmacological knowledge by completing continuing education credits as required by the state of Indiana
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
