Furniture Manufacturing Shop Foreman

Universal Furniture Design, a premier custom furniture manufacturing company, is looking for an experienced Shop Foreman to join our team in our Las Vegas office. This person will play a critical role in the organization as the lead for all manufacturing operations of the company.

The ideal candidate is a high-energy individual with excellent organizational skills, tremendous leadership and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shop to ensure adherence to project deadlines in accordance with UFDs standards of manufacturing quality
• Hires and trains personnel necessary for business activities
• Schedules work hours needed to meet deadlines in accordance with scope of projects
• Schedules pickups and deliveries in accordance to order commitments
• Teaches Quality Control to floor personnel at each stage of production and performs a final quality control prior to packing, loading, delivery and install
• Assists in determining project costs including and not limited to; raw material cost, labor cost, yardage requirements as needed & if applicable, etc
• Maintains a clean and organized shop floor
• Maintains a safe work environment in accordance to all City, County, Fire, Health Regulations & Codes (i.e. clear aisles, fire extinguishers, handling/storing hazardous materials, dust control, air quality, etc)
• Must be able to plan, assign, supervise, evaluate and perform all production duties
• Must be able to source vendors for parts, equipment, supplies, etc. needed for producing all orders secured
• Maintains company equipment, tools & vehicles with sources & knowledge for upkeep and repair
• Must be available for Site Visits w/Owner, as needed to determine measurements and qualifying the company’s ability to perform the work within the timeframe specified
  
  

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a foreman or lead in a manufacturing capacity, preferably in the furniture or upholstery setting
• Bi-lingual Spanish speaker preferred
• Must be willing to re-locate to Las Vegas
• Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs comfortably
• Must demonstrate strong leadership skills
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal & communication skills
• Is able to remain calm & clear-headed in an emergency
• Manages time effectively, Communicates Clearly
• Arrives at shop prior to scheduled starting period, when not possible must appoint an assistant to verify timely team arrival
• Must be flexible beyond the normal Monday-Friday schedule as deadlines dictate
• Qualified to operate shop machinery & vehicles
• Works well with team
