A Bit About The Role

We want to make sure the Cantina feels alive and every user who joins can find something to do. Whether that's interacting with a featured bot, building their own, or hanging out in public rooms, there should be a range of programming for users to engage with. Cantina, Inc. is searching for its first Head of Community Programming to take charge of all in-app editorial touchpoints, including owned rooms, room programming, and featured bots. As a pivotal member of the Community team, you will be responsible for curating and owning the editorial direction of our platform, ensuring that it remains engaging, culturally relevant, and aligned with our brand identity.

This role requires you to be a superuser of Cantina, with a deep understanding of the platform and its users. You will be pivotal in forming a strategy to create and curate the vibes of our Home Tab through featured bots and company-owned rooms. The ideal candidate will need to know the ins and outs of Cantina and be well-versed in trends across other social spaces to effectively guide the creation of featured bots and curate in-app experiences that highlight bots in social settings. This role is highly collaborative, requiring you to work closely with the Product team to inform user insights around onboarding and retention, as well as with our Lead Operations team to coordinate moderation and live programming efforts.

A Bit About The Work

  • Develop and execute the editorial strategy for all in-app touchpoints, including staff-owned rooms/channels in app (plus its live programming), and featured bots
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI tools in live programming and events, and think strategically about how to showcase enticing rooms and bots for first-time users of Cantina.
  • Curate and maintain a diverse range of content to ensure high levels of user engagement and retention.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the Cantina platform and its users and relay insights to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with moderation team to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for live programming and user interactions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align editorial content with overall business objectives and brand identity.
  • Identify trends in culture, technology and content and in order to inform and develop them into programming concepts like bots, rooms, or events.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics and trending content, including bots, in Cantina to optimize content effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and competitive landscape to maintain a leading-edge editorial strategy.

A Bit About You

  • 5+ years of experience in editorial content management, preferably in a digital media or tech company.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful editorial strategies that drive user engagement and retention.
  • Experience managing and building teams.
  • Strong understanding of digital content formats, including live video and audio programming.
  • Experience owning live programming stream calendars and curating authentic and organic content.
  • Prior experience working with moderation teams to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for user interactions.
  • Experience directly driving ongoing editorial content strategy for a brand, preferably in house.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and a pulse on contemporary culture.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities

Location:

We have offices located in Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn, NY. While we have a strong focus on individuals near our office hubs, we offer fully remote and hybrid employment opportunities.

Pay Equity

In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the salary range for this role ranges from $125,000 - $150,000. When determining salary rate, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, and location.
