Principal Consultant - US Manufacturing and Operations

As the Health and Safety Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety policies and procedures within our greenhouse facilities. You will play a critical role in ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Your leadership will drive our commitment to safety and health excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development and Implementation:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure all policies and procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Regularly review and update health and safety protocols to reflect changes in regulations and industry best practices.
  2. Risk Assessment and Management:

    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
    • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of risk management strategies and make necessary adjustments.
  3. Training and Education:

    • Design and deliver health and safety training programs for all employees.
    • Ensure all employees are aware of and understand health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Keep abreast of new health and safety training requirements and ensure timely compliance.
  4. Incident Management:

    • Lead investigations into any workplace accidents or incidents to determine causes and implement preventive measures.
    • Maintain detailed records of incidents and follow up on corrective actions.
    • Report incidents to relevant authorities as required.
  5. Compliance and Auditing:

    • Conduct regular health and safety audits to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
    • Prepare and present reports on audit findings and recommendations to senior management.
    • Ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
  6. Employee Engagement and Communication:

    • Foster a culture of safety and health within the organization.
    • Communicate health and safety information effectively to all levels of the organization.
    • Encourage and facilitate employee involvement in health and safety initiatives.
  7. Emergency Preparedness:

    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure all employees are trained in emergency response.
    • Coordinate with local emergency services as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety leadership role, preferably in agriculture or horticulture.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
