The Healthcare Scheduling Consultant – RN is responsible for assisting Healthcare systems in developing and optimizing staffing and scheduling practices. This role will ensure our clients maximize scheduling software efficiency and reduce labor costs while adhering to organizational policies and collective bargaining agreements.
Responsibilities
Scheduling and Staffing
Collaborate with nursing leadership and staff to develop and optimize scheduling preferences, time-off requests, and special assignments while maintaining operational efficiency
Utilize the scheduling software to assist in processes and procedures to develop accurate staff schedules, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix across all shifts and units
Analyze historical data, anticipated patient census, and acuity levels to forecast staffing needs and make informed scheduling decisions
Coverage and Staffing Optimization
Assist the organization in the development of staffing plans to address staffing gaps or overstaffing situations, implementing strategies to ensure appropriate coverage and resource utilization
Optimize staffing to reduce the burden of using staffing agencies and float pools to reduce overall labor costs and inefficiencies
Collaborate with nursing leadership to develop and implement staffing models, productivity standards, and workforce optimization strategies
Participate in budget planning and labor cost management initiatives related to staffing and scheduling
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Certified Scheduler or equivalent certification in the UKG platform (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a labor management or staffing role
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with nursing staff, leadership, and other stakeholders
Proficiency in using scheduling software, spreadsheets, and other relevant computer applications
Knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and organizational policies related to staffing, scheduling, and timekeeping
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
