Position Summary

The Director, Human Resources is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing human resources business partners and employee relations. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and an understanding of human resources practices within the healthcare industry.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Collaborate with the CHRO, HR Leaders and senior leadership team to develop and execute human resource strategies aligned with the overall business objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of human resource business partners and employee relations specialists, setting goals and expectations, providing coaching, mentorship, feedback, and development opportunities to ensure high performance and employee engagement.
  • Employee Relations: Oversee employee relations activities, including but not limited to investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary/corrective actions aligned with performance management processes. Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Stay abreast of relevant employment laws and regulations in the healthcare industry ensuring compliance and mitigating risks through proactive policies and practices.
  • Strategic Talent Management: Collaborate with Talent and Leadership Development and partner with hiring managers and department heads to develop workforce plans. Identify and share talent needs with Talent Acquisition in alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Organizational Development: Work with Talent and Leadership Development to drive initiatives related to performance management, employee engagement, coaching and developing leaders and teams, talent reviews and succession planning.
  • HR Analytics and Reporting: Utilize HR metrics and analytics to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement and inform decision-making.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts related to organizational restructuring and other significant business changes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to employee morale and productivity.
  • Employee Engagement and Culture: Foster a positive work environment and a culture of engagement, diversity, and inclusion across the organization. Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee satisfaction, well-being, and retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in human resource management, with at least three (3) years in a leadership role within the healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, including experience managing complex investigations and resolving sensitive issues.
  • Strong understanding of relevant employment laws and regulations, particularly within the healthcare sector.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of driving HR initiatives that contribute to business success
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and translate HR strategies into actionable plans and measurable results.
  • HR certification (e.g. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.

Working Conditions/Equipment

  • Normal office environment
  • Local travel between health centers is required; mode of transportation required, if personal vehicle is employed, a current driver’s license and proof of insurance is required
  • Remote working options; must have a suitable and secure remote working environment
  • This is a hybrid position.
