Position Summary:


Commercial Sales Manager is responsible for the sales of commercial equipment to achieve sales goals for the commercial line of products. Manage, supervise, mentor and coach a group of employees with varying levels of experience and differing backgrounds. Assist and develop overall commercial business, develop relationships with customers and work with field operations and marketing. Perform other job-related projects and job functions deemed necessary and/or assigned by Sales and Engineering Manager.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Division personnel (outsides sales & technical engineers) to establish strategic goals, sales and revenue budgets, and marketing plans that are specific to the profitable growth of commercial unitary share.
  • Recognize both annual objectives as well as a rolling 5-year horizon for the achievement of long-term planning for resources, products, and investments to achieve business objectives (revised annually to reflect changing market conditions).
  • Develop regional budgets, activities, and training initiatives, that support the Region’s and Division’s objectives.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and make decisions based on P&L reporting, which impact both top line (Sales and Margin) and bottom line (Expense and Business Contribution)
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Engineering Manager, Purchasing, and Commercial Corporate to oversee inventory management and stock levels.
  • Report sales revenue, market share and profitability by region.
  • Work in conjunction with Product Management to ensure that product availability programs meet market and Division needs.
  • Provide professional quality customer service to our internal and external customers.
  • Deal directly with customers, primarily large accounts to grow commercial sales.
  • Travel to customer sites, dealer meetings, and company events.
  • Train and educate staff and customers on commercial products as needed.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws
  • This position has been designated as a safety sensitive position


Critical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of wholesale distribution and working with distributors as well as national accounts
  • Knowledge of the HVAC contracting industry specific to the commercial market
  • In-depth understanding of commercial products, their engineering and applications, as well as the negotiating process unique to the sale of commercial products
  • Adept in the use of Microsoft Systems (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Good judgment and planning skills
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner


Education and Experience:

  • BS in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry
  • Minimum 5 years’ sales experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ management experience
  • Experience in training and presentations
