As Information Technology Manager for DeKalb County State Court, you will be instrumental in promoting good government by performing the following duties:


  • Manages, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; reviews timesheets; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and County administrators and elected officials; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; and provides progress and activity reports.
  • Manages departmental information technology users; manages implementation of strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the department in assigned operational program; evaluates performance of current systems/programming in relation to growing needs of the department; evaluates system's effectiveness; and identifies needed changes, modifications and/or enhancements.
  • Manages projects in assigned areas; establishes project priorities; develops plans for implementing changes to include lifecycle plans that identify the order, timing and priority of system changes; recommends methodologies, data sources, and software tools; recommends changes to current technology systems or applications in order to meet department’s needs; and identifies new processes and alternatives to resolve problems or improve/enhance operations.
  • Researches, tests and recommends products for acquisition; develops requests for proposals; reviews bids; makes recommendations regarding vendor selection; monitors contractors/vendors for compliance with contracts; and communicates with vendors and end users to resolve service and compliance issues.
  • Manages and conducts training programs for users and subordinate staff; writes and/or revises user training manuals and lesson plans; selects training times/locations based on users’ needs; answers questions and provides information during and after training; and maintains related documentation.
  • Maintains an awareness of new applications, technologies, technical methods, trends, and advances in the profession; reviews professional publications, technical manuals, and websites to increase knowledge of network operations; and attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.

To be minimally qualified, you must have the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related

field required; five years of progressively responsible information technology experience, to

include lead experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
