Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an interim Accounting Manager for a 3-month contract role with one of our clients in the water pipeline and infrastructure industry.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial accounting function, including general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, credit/accounts receivable, and sales and property taxes.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and other work product completed by accounting staff.
- Responsible for the monthly close process for overseen areas, ensuring work is completed timely and reviewed for accuracy, with review appropriately documented.
- Research, document, and conclude on technical accounting and financial reporting issues.
- Active involvement with annual external audit and quarterly reviews through preparation and review of audit schedules and other requested material, as well as responding to auditor questions related to the Company’s financial accounting and related processes.
- Coordinate with Corporate accounting to provide timely and accurate information for inclusion in external financial reporting.
- Understand internal control procedures related to areas overseen, and participate in controls documentation and evaluation.
- Perform selected internal control procedures maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Streamline and document department processes and procedures with the objective of following lean principles while also maintaining strong internal controls.
- Develop and update accounting policies and procedures, and ensure compliance.
- Broad understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Be able to maintain a sense of humor and strong interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate to advanced skills working with computers and including.
- Experience working with sophisticated ERP systems is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Supervisory, internal controls, and public experience preferred.
- CPA or related certification is desired.
