The IT - Director, Ambulatory Applications is responsible for the strategic planning for the network, support, and maintenance of the domain within the electronic health record as part of Digital Technology Services (DTS) at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). Oversees the network implementation, support, lifecycle management, and strategy for all modules within their designated service areas and programs of oversight. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for implementation, build, ongoing optimization, and support for modules within their program tower. Spans multiple service areas including Ambulatory, home health and Hospice, Population Health, Patient Portal, and partner organizations. Embraces a true partnership model and establishes strong relationships across both clinical/business operations and DTS leadership teams.

This is a hybrid position where you will need to go into the Edison, NJ Office 50% part of the time. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in Epic Ambulatory.

Responsibilties

A day in the life of a IT - Director, Ambulatory Applications includes:

  • Manages the development, implementation, and oversight of the clinical ambulatory Electronic Health Record (EHR) system which includes the strategic planning for the network, support, and maintenance of the domain within the electronic health record.
  • Directs and oversees the network implementation, support, lifecycle management, and strategy for all modules within designated service areas and programs.
  • Directs and oversees the implementation, build, ongoing optimization, and support for modules within the designated program tower.
  • Partners and collaborates with multiple service areas including Ambulatory, home health and Hospice, Population Health, Patient Portal, and partner organizations.
  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of physician practices' workflows, hospital outpatient departments, and patient experiences in connection with build, ongoing optimization, and support for modules within clinical ambulatory EHR system.
  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of specialty physician practices' workflows in connection with build, ongoing optimization, and support for modules within clinical ambulatory EHR system.
  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of a wide array of integration points, including scheduling, lab, radiology, billing, imaging, and inpatient clinical in the development and implementation of a clinical ambulatory EHR system.
  • Adheres to legal requirements and operational policies regarding patient and family privacy practices.
  • Monitor current outside organization connection strategy and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Partner and coordinate with community clinic relationships and how those groups interact (referrals, discharge to SNF, lab ordering, surgery scheduling, etc.).
  • Partner with the non-clinical external groups that need to access information about certain patients and vet access needs/requirements.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned (e.g., lead/participate in additional projects/initiatives). 13. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related fields; or equivalent relevant experience may be accepted in place of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Healthcare setting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic/business consulting or a leadership role in healthcare, clinical informatics, or strategic/business consulting.
  • Prior experience leading large teams of individuals and the ability to manage staff effectively.
  • Past success with large-scale projects such as other software implementations, building projects, or other key initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to gain trust and establish effective relationships with team members.
  • Ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle stress and multitask
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite platforms.

Licenses And Certifications Preferred

  • EPIC Certification.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations.
