Junior Project Engineer
This is a long term, nested contract position with one of our Chemical clients.
The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer’s role is to support capital project process and project creation, capital project review, approval, closure, and tracking, and reporting of capital budget and key indicators to assist management in understanding the companies capital expenditures and forecasts.
Responsibilities include:
- Review all aspects of capital projects ensuring all information is included, as well as contractor quotes, drawings, presentations, financial evaluations, and other relevant documents
- Provide project support, decision of cost vs. capital using tracking, and assistance to project managers on submission issues and pending items to assure compliance and timely project approval
- Build and develop trust and business relationships vital to the success of capital project submission, review, and timely approval
- Monitor and electronically update project approvals
- Maintain accurate capital expenditures records; prepare expenditure summaries and other reports as required
- Plan and coordinate the preparation of the capital projects annual budget and capital projects multi-year budget
- Manage and drive timely project closures and ensure proper asset capitalization in accordance with Guidelines
- Create executive reports to communicate key information including budget, project approval summary, and capital project projections to management
- Coordinate and maintain capital project procedures and document management and information updates to plant
- Create recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful capital project and procedure elements for continuous improvement and value creation
- Provide support with internal and external resources for definition and application of best technology for capital project process innovation and system unification for the site
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Preferred Chemical or Mechanical)
- 3-5 years’ experience
- Previous project experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to perform multiple assignments/projects simultaneously
- Excellent troubleshooting and computer skills as well as a team player with the ability to make sound decisions with minimum data, if required
- Ability to work independently toward assigned objectives with minimal supervision on small and large capital projects as requested
- SAP experience preferred
